Every action counts.
Join us in advancing the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Uganda. Whether you donate, volunteer, partner, advocate or mentor — you strengthen a movement that is changing lives.
Six ways to get involved.
From a one-time donation to a multi-year partnership — there's a way for everyone to strengthen the movement.
Donate
Fund advocacy, leadership training, inclusive education and sustainable livelihoods. Every gift makes a measurable difference in the lives of persons with disabilities.
Give Now →Volunteer
Offer your time and skills — from mentoring emerging leaders to supporting field activities, communications, and community outreach.
Volunteer With Us →Partner
Join us as a funder, technical partner or co-implementer. Together we can design and deliver programmes with greater reach and depth.
Partner With Us →Advocate
Amplify our message — share our work, challenge stigma, and help shape public narratives around disability rights in your community.
Amplify the Message →Mentor
Offer your expertise as a critical friend, professional mentor, or advisor to strengthen the skills and confidence of emerging leaders.
Become a Mentor →Work With Us
Join our team as staff, consultant, intern or volunteer. We periodically recruit people who share our rights-based approach.

Persons with disabilities in Uganda face barriers in education, employment, health care, and public life. Every form of involvement helps remove those barriers.
Barriers are real
Children with disabilities are less likely to attend school. Adults face higher unemployment. Public spaces and services are often inaccessible. Your involvement changes this.
Change is possible
With the right support — legal advocacy, inclusive education, livelihood opportunities — persons with disabilities can thrive and lead in their communities.
Your action counts
Whether you give time, money, expertise or voice — every contribution multiplies. Collective action is what makes systemic change possible.
Volunteer with us.
Share your time, skills and passion. We especially welcome volunteers with lived experience of disability.
How to become a volunteer.
We keep our volunteer intake simple and welcoming. Whether you can offer a few hours a month or a full-time placement, we'd love to hear from you.
Get in touch
Send us a message with your skills, availability, and areas of interest. There's no formal application form at this stage.
Have a conversation
We'll meet with you (in person or online) to explore where your skills could add value, and answer any questions you may have.
Get matched and start
Once we've found a fit, you'll receive an orientation and a clear scope for your role. We provide ongoing support throughout.
Areas where volunteers make a difference:
- Programme support — field activities, data collection, logistics
- Communications — storytelling, social media, translation
- Mentorship — supporting leaders through our mentorship programme
- Professional skills — legal, medical, M&E, accounting, HR
- Advocacy and outreach — community engagement and public education

Common questions.
Answers to the things people ask most when they want to get involved.
How do I know my donation will be used well?
Lamicare DRO Uganda operates with rigorous financial management subject to independent audits. We maintain zero tolerance for corruption and fraud, with robust policies on conflicts of interest and data privacy. Annual reports and audited financial statements are published on our Reports page.
Can I volunteer remotely?
Yes. Many roles — communications, translation, research, grant writing, mentoring — can be done remotely. Let us know your skills and availability when you get in touch, and we'll explore what works.
I have a disability — can I still get involved?
Absolutely. Persons with disabilities are at the centre of our work — including as volunteers, staff, board members and partners. We actively welcome volunteers, interns and team members with lived experience. Reasonable accommodations are provided throughout the process.
Do you offer internships?
Yes. We periodically host interns in programmes, communications, and operations. Visit our Careers page for current openings, or contact us to express interest even when no specific posting is live.
Can I visit your office?
Yes — we welcome visits from partners, volunteers, donors and community members. Our office is in Wakiso District (see our Contact page for details). We recommend calling ahead to confirm availability.
How can my organisation partner with you?
Please visit our Partners page for a detailed overview of partnership types, or contact us directly at [email protected].
